Futures Program

The Futures program opens a pathway to competitive softball through development of fundamentals, building confidence, knowledge and above all else a love for the game.

Futures serves as a bridge between recreational and competitive tournament level softball. It is not necessarily for every softball player. It is designed for the player truly interested in playing a higher level of softball in her future.

Our goal is to assist in the development of those players and coaches that are committed to the sport, want to make themselves and their team better, and desire to progress into high level competitive tournament play. In order to reach this goal, we are committed to player development, coach education and training, small team sizes, and inter-program support across all teams and age groups. Players will be taught the game from the fundamental level up with the goal in mind to play at the highest level possible in competitive tournaments. Coaches will be given training materials, guidance and mentorship opportunities to assist in their development.

While we strive to serve as many community members as possible, we are constrained by volunteer availability, player commitment level and a focus on small team size. As a volunteer organization, we can only field the number of teams we have high-quality coaches willing to step up and support. We will fill those teams with the girls deemed to be the most committed to developing their softball skills, but may need to make cuts in order to keep team sizes small and focused on player development.

Lady Wolves Softball is looking for dedicated, hard-working, and passionate softball players to join our pack for the upcoming season. We are seeking young women of faith & integrity, empowered by family and united in purpose who are ready to elevate their game, compete at a high level, and embody the spirit of teamwork and determination.

How do I know if Lady Wolves 10U Futures is right for me?

  • Is your player excited to play softball?

  • Is your player focused and determined to get better?

  • Is playing softball one of your player’s favorite things to do?

  • Does your player want to play softball at a competitive level?

  • Does your player want to play softball even if her friends do not?

  • Does your player want to play softball even if she is on a different team than her friends?

  • Am I, as a parent, willing to help support my team beyond just dropping my player off?

We are designing this opportunity for a smaller number of girls who can answer yes to the questions above.

What will teams and age levels look like?

  • Girls of similar grade and skill level will be grouped to then develop together

  • We anticipate forming just one 10U team

  • Rosters limited to approximately 12 players at the coach's discretion

What will a Futures coach be looking for?

  • The Futures program is not concerned with the player’s current skill level. We are focused on a player’s commitment level to the sport of softball.

  • A girl that may have great natural ability, but is unfocused and doesn’t have the drive to play at a high level is not a good fit for our program.

  • Alternatively, a girl who is new to the sport but has a strong desire to play and develop her skills, is probably a perfect fit.

How will games and practices work?
This is not a full-blown commitment to weekend after weekend of tournaments! This is to develop skills to thrive and give players and parents a taste of what is to come and gain the experience of what that next level is like. The goal is to spend more time on skill refinement during practices, drills and simulated games.

  • 1-2 practices per week, beginning in Mid-March (weather permitting) and ending in June

  • 10u teams (generally 4th-5th graders) will have approximately two (2) full-weekend commitments (2-day tournaments) with the possibility of additional round robins and scrimmages (additional fees may apply)

  • We will also compete in our own tournament held on Memorial Day weekend

  • Tournaments will be as local as possible to Lancaster, Lebanon, York, Cumberland and Dauphin counties (essentially, less than 2 hours drive)

  • The players will have regular opportunities to train with the older teams and have 12U mentors throughout the season

What does the Futures season cost?
Our fees for the 2026 futures spring season are $400, payable in two payments of $200. This cost covers administrative fees (player registration with USA Softball, field rental costs, player insurance, the boring stuff), two (2) practice jerseys, two (2) game jerseys, two (2) pairs of purple socks and one (1) purple belt. Families are responsible for supplying black softball pants for tournaments.

Additional tournaments outside of the 2-day tournaments mentioned above, are based on the interest level of the coaching staff and the families. If additional tournaments are requested, the Lady Wolves can help facilitate that and the cost would be split up amongst the families (ie. Tournament costs $600, divided by 12 girls on the roster, additional $50 per person). The families may also choose to do a fundraiser if they wish, in order to cover additional tournaments.

*Offerings and cost are subject to change before being finalized
